About Nick Spinner

Nick Spinner is a public-sector technology leader and Contra Costa County employee with 12 years of experience supporting the County’s property tax and assessment systems that residents and local agencies rely on. He has worked hands-on building and maintaining modern applications that integrate with the County’s legacy tax system, including tools that process business property statements, the online property tax lookup and payment portal, the assessment appeals system used by the Assessor’s Office and the Clerk of the Board, and lobby kiosk software that helps property owners look up parcel information and related documents.

Nick is an elected Director of the Crockett Community Services District. As Board President in 2024, he helped lead a turnaround of the District during a period of serious operational and financial risk. He served as a volunteer interim General Manager for six months to stabilize operations, rebuild the leadership team, strengthen operational accountability, and restore progress on financial controls and required audits.

Nick is running for Contra Costa County Assessor to improve customer service and turnaround times by fixing inefficient, paper-heavy workflows, digitizing records where legally allowed, and implementing a responsible long-term plan to modernize legacy technology while protecting continuity of operations. He is committed to restoring public trust through transparency, ethical independence, and a respectful, union-supporting workplace culture.

Nick lives in Crockett. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University, East Bay, and has additional finance and accounting coursework. He is an Eagle Scout.
