Democratic Party Structure
ABOUT US
The Democratic Party of Contra Costa County (DPCCC) is the official organization representing over 375,000 registered Democrats across the county.
Our volunteer members work hard to champion progressive policies, elect strong Democrats, and build a cohesive community that works together to solve challenging problems.
But we don’t stop there. We believe in collaboration. As California Democrats, our members collaborate with allied organizations and individuals to defend and promote the rights, opportunities, and safety of all our state’s residents.
Some of our key priorities include:
- Guaranteeing all have access to affordable health care,
- Implementing solutions to the climate emergency,
- Fostering environmental justice, worker justice, and collaborations for a more just economy,
- Reversing income and wealth inequality,
- Ensuring every person has a place to live, and
- Protecting the fundamental right to vote.
The DPCCC endorses local candidates and takes positions on local and state issues to support community actions, legislation, and ballot measures. We ensure our candidates stand by the values and priorities they claimed before their victory to ensure our party’s long-term strength and trustworthiness.
We need your help! Here’s how you can get more involved:

- We are the official Democratic Party governing body in Contra Costa County.
- The Democratic Party of Contra Costa County (DPCCC)
- consists of elected committee members from each of the five county supervisor districts.
- includes representation from state and federal elected officials in the county.
- Any Democrat can join the Central Committee as a non-voting Associate Member, and can join and vote in our subcommittees (e.g. Endorsements or Issues), subject to approval by the relevant committee chair.
- Each election year, we interview and endorse Democratic candidates for local elected office in Contra Costa County.
- The DPCCC’s endorsements for county and municipal races also become the official endorsements of the Democratic Party at large.
- Our subcommittees provide valuable services to local Democrats by organizing and registering voters, communicating party values, recruiting volunteers, raising crucial funds and helping Democratic Clubs charter and grow.
- The DPCCC embraces the platforms of the California Democratic Party and Democratic National Committee.
- We also take positions on local issues by issuing resolutions in support of legislation, propositions and other community actions.
