The Press and the Oakley Chamber of Commerce are hosting a live forum for Oakley City Council candidates on Monday October 7th at 6 pm at the Oakley Recreation Center (1250 O’Hara Avenue, Oakley, CA).  Meet & Greet the candidates – Oleksii Chuiko (endorsed by the Democratic Party of Contra Costa County) and George Fuller – at 6 pm.  Forum begins at 6:30.

Willie James Mims Memorial Service

Educator and Activist, Willie Mims’ memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 11 am in the Delta Bay Community Church, 1030 E. Tregallas Rd., Antioch.

From his obituary: “Willie’s main goal was to educate, motivate and support his community.  He leaves a legacy of love, compassion and service that will continue to inspire all fortunate enough to know him.”

DPCCC District 3 Director, Carolina Villaseca commented, “Willie was a giant in advocating for education opportunities and equity for BIPOC students.”
